Magic Johnson’s Statement About LeBron James Costed Him Honorary Lakers Tittle

Magic Johnson is doing pretty fine at the position of president of basketball operations in the Lakers organization. We all remember him saying that he would sign his resignation letter if the team doesn’t land a big-name free agent.

That’s right, they sure caught a big fish this time. LeBron James signed in with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Magic Johnson is probably happy.

LeBron agreed to a four-year contract on Sunday night. King James decided to leave the Cavs for the second time in his career. Although he considers Cleveland as his home, LeBron still decided to opt out of the final year of his deal.
Remember what happened in 2016? The “honorary vice president” of the Lakers wrote a tweet saying that the Lakers should do their best to sign in King James.

“Laker Nation: The Lakers should call LeBron James agent. We know he’s going stay in CLE but they should go after him just in case he leaves,” he tweeted.

The move was considered as tampering, and the organization announced its decision to strip Johnson of his honorary title. He was removed from the team directory.

Things got a bit clearer once Johnson became a president. He wants to see the team back in championship contention, and LeBron will help him achieve this.

Johnson lost his honorary title a couple of years ago, and now he has LeBron playing with the Lakers. Good job, Magic Johnson!
