Decision Comes In On Julian Edelman’s PED Suspension Appeal

Julian Edelman will sit out the first quarter of the season. His four-game suspension appeal was denied, and this is a major twist in his career. What went wrong? The PED suspension appeal was the last hope of Edelman, and he really thought it would work.

Edelman was tested positive on a performance-enhancing substance. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Edelman’s PED suspension appeal was denied.

The defense was based on two pillars. Edelman thought he could have someone hear him because of the murkiness around the “unknown substance” he allegedly took. The NFL player also said that the National Football League mishandled the documentation and the delivery of his test results. The investigation showed that the NFL made huge mistakes in the handling process of the results.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero said that Edelman’s appeal hearing was rather “contentious.” We already remember how Edelman said he had taken numerous tests during his career. He was always clean.

But, none of the arguments helped Edelman to clear his name and lift the four-game suspension. We can only wait and see how will Edelman accept this decision. Will he take the case to federal court? That’s what he promised in case the appeal doesn’t work.

Edelman will also miss New England’s game against the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. The first two games are critical for the Pats season. Houston and Jacksonville will be contenders with the Patriots in AFC. They will also be fighting to seed atop the conference along Pittsburgh. This is a critical period for the New England Patriots, and Edelman will miss that.

Edelman tore the ACL last preseason in the game against Detroit. He was kept sidelined throughout the last year. He had a good season, and things started going down the hill. What will Edelman do next?
