NFL Coach Found Dead at Home

Tony Sparano died at the age of 56, as confirmed by several sources, including the report from KSTP 5 Eyewitness News. We still have no information on the cause of death, and we will share more details once we have the full story of the NFL coach.

“Our hearts go out to Jeanette and the entire Sparano family as we all mourn the loss of Tony. Tony was a passionate and driven individual who cared deeply about his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tony’s presence within the Vikings organization will be deeply missed. We are only thinking of Tony’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We ask that the entire NFL and Vikings family keep the Sparanos in their thoughts,” Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf wrote in their official statement on Sparano’s death.

We will remember Sparano as the offensive line coach for the Vikings. He passed away just days before the official start of the training camp at the new TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota. The NFL coach was holding this position in the team since the 2016 season. Sparano was an assistant in the league since 1999.

There were multiple stops in his career, including the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and the Vikings. Sparano was the head coach of the Dolphins in the period between 2008 and 2011. He was also the interim head coach of the Raiders in 2014.

The whole coaching thing started at his college alma mater, the Division II New Heaven. Sparano spent some time at Boston University.

The NFL coach is survived by his wife, Jeanette, and the three children – Tony, Andrew and Ryan Leigh.

“1/2 More details on tragic passing of Vikings’ OL coach Tony Sparano, via @mortreport. Sparano complained about chest pains this weekend and went to hospital Thursday. Doctors did tests, but released him Friday,” Adam Schefter tweeted on the tragic news.

“2/2 Tony Sparano and his wife, Jeannette, were about to leave for church this morning when she found him unconscious in their kitchen. She tried CPR, but he could not be revived. He was 56,” he added.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Sparano’s family. May he rest in peace.
