Rob Gronkowski always manages to find his way to top headlines, and this time it was hist goodbye post to Danny Amendola. Gronk sure knows how to surprise us.

The former Patriots wide out put an end to his five-year game in New England during the offseason. He agreed to a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Gronk heard the big news about his leaving, and decided to say ‘goodbye’ in a rather interesting way. His Instagram post was touching and emotional.

The “BE FREE, BE HAPPY” comment triggered an avalanche of reactions, as it happened in the middle of Gronk’s retirement rumors. His relationship with head coach Bill Belichick was also the reason for the big mess. Everyone is still talking about this particular event in the last season. Bill Belichick actually chastised Gronk in front of his teammates for seeing trainer Alex Guerrero.

“It was a honor playing with ya the past 5 years @dannyamendola Thanks for all the hugs and memories! Stay lit, Be FREE, Be HAPPY. Your hard work, the way you play at your size, the pain you fought through, the hits you take and get right back up talking shit back. I appreciated it all. Congrats. Enjoy Miami kid,” Gronkowski wrote in his post.

Gronk did a Q & A session with Sports Illustrated’s Ben Baskin, and was asked about his touching post. “That’s for the whole world. That would be amazing if the whole world was free and happy. I love life. Free and happy,” he said.

Gronkowski was also asked about the retirement rumors, and he just said he needed more time for himself. “I was seeing how I was recovering, how my body was feeling. Taking a little break mentally and physically from the game. Just seeing how I felt and seeing if I wanted to do it another year and if I was able to endure another season. That was the main thing. I feel like I’m ready to go, physically and mentally,” he said.

Well, there you go.
