While in Philly, Matthews had three straight seasons of over 800 yards receiving and over 65 catches. His most productive season in the NFL so far was 2015, when he scored 85 catches for 997 yards and eight touchdowns.
Report: Patriots Wide Receiver Suffers Hamstring Injury!
According to recent reports, one of Patriots’ wide outs will be absent for several days after tweaking his hamstring during Sunday’s training camp session.
Jordan Matthews is said to have suffered the injury midway through practice while running a route against Jason McCourty during 1-on-1 drills. Matthews found himself on the ground, and when he got up was seen grabbing his upper right leg.
After being checked by trainers in the blue medical tent, he did not return to practice.
Overall, the hamstring injury doesn’t appear to be too serious, but it will shorten Malcolm’s time to practice. Previously, he’s been dealing with a knee injury and because of the Patriots pass catchers getting dinged up in the early goings of camp, they’ve even brought in two wide receivers in Devin Lucien and Paul Turner.
Patriots will be looking forward to him returning in the team’s offense as he is being considered a prime candidate to be an impact player in the receiving corps after Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks departed this offseason. Also, the Patriots will need someone to cover for the absence of Julian Edelman who is being handed a four game suspension for testing positive for PEDs.
