Report: LeBron James Doesn’t Rule Out Returning To Cleveland

LeBron James has just inked a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team closest to his native hometown Akron, will remain always in his heart. It even appears that James isn’t ruling out a potential return to the Cavs.

James has played 11 out of his 15 professional seasons in Cleveland and is the greatest player in the history of the organization. In addition to him being the top scorer in nearly every major statistical category: games played, points, rebounds, assists and steals, the superstar also led the organization to its first ever NBA title with a victory over the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

And while his love for Cleveland is undeniable, the Cavs have also expressed his gratitude and admiration for King James by announcing they plan to ultimately retire LeBron’s #23 jersey.

“LeBron, you came home and delivered the ultimate goal,” team owner Gilbert said to James in a statement following the announcement of his decision to sign with the Lakers. “Nothing but appreciation and gratitude for everything you put into every moment you spent in a Cavaliers uniform. We look forward to the retirement of the famous #23 Cavs jersey one day down the line.”

The possibility of LeBron James returning to Cleveland for the second time could never be excluded. However, so far James seems pretty happy with his decision to sign in Los Angeles, as he recently called joining the Lakers – and partnering with his childhood idol Magic Johnson –  “a dream come true.”

“This is kind of like a dream come true for me,” James confessed.  “You know, growing up, I was a Cowboys fans, I was a Bulls fan, I was a Yankees fan, and I’ve always felt like that was one of the historic franchises. You look at the Lakers, and being able to play for a historic franchise, with so much history, you know?

“And now being able to partner with Magic Johnson, someone I kind of like looked up to when I was younger, you know, and wanted to make no-look passes like Magic, wanted to get on the break and be ‘Showtime’ like Magic, and then for it to all come to fruition at this point, I think timing is everything.”

Though he will be wearing purple-and-gold for the foreseeable future, maybe he’ll decide that Cleveland is where he wants to retire. And perhaps even buy the team altogether.
