Chris Bosh says plan to assemble superteam with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade was created before 2008

The NBA changed in 2010, and the new era of player control redefined every aspect of the league. Miami Heat was a real power at the time, and Chris Bosh decided to talk about the superteam.

Chris Bosh was part of the player-orchestrated team. He joined powers with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, and the team-up plan was designed well before the 2008 Olympics.

Most people have different views of the whole idea, but Bosh said there was no backroom summit in Beijing to join the powers in Miami a couple of years later.

“I mean, we had each other’s phone numbers. People still ask me, and I tell them, ‘Look, I wish it was that cool, like a secret room with James Bond, but unfortunately it didn’t go down like that,’” Bosh said.

The base of this move was set before 2008. LeBron, Wade and Bosh had their three-year rookie scale extensions instead of the maximum contract. Carmelo Anthony signed a five-year contract with the Denver Nuggets. So, yes, Anthony was out of the plan. The other three were supposed to become free agents in 2010.

“It was on the tip of everybody’s tongue. It started with all of us signing three-year deals instead of five-year deals, just to maintain flexibility. We were looking at it like we needed to remain flexible, and usually it’s great to lock yourself in… but at the same time in this game, you want to be flexible. You only get so many years to get something out of this game. It’s kind of taken on a life of its own now. It’s crazy now, but the game is always going to evolve. It’s always going to change. People just have to change with it,” Bosh added.

Players played more than the pure game. they played by the rules and played the rules. Awesome, right?
