Mass Casualty Incident At Madden Event In Jacksonville

The country was left in shock after the mass shooting at the video game tournament organized at a restaurant in Jacksonville, Fl., Sunday afternoon.

Multiple people lost their lives in the mass shooting that was streamed online from Jacksonville.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said that the suspect, a white male, was shot dead. We don’t have much info on whether the police fatally shot him or if the man killed himself. His identity is still unknown, and there are no additional suspects on this case.

“We have no outstanding suspects at this time. No outstanding suspects. We have one suspect in this case. He is deceased at the scene,” Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said during the news conference.

Local media reports that the gunman killed four people and wounded 10. The information was first brought by police sources. Staff at Jacksonville’s UF Health Hospital confirmed that six victims were brought to their hospital. Five of the victims are in stable condition, and one is serious.

Officials said the mass shooting occurred at the Jacksonville Landing, a waterfront dining entertainment and shopping area in downtown Jacksonville. There was also a livestreamed video of the shooting, showing players reacting to the gunfire. Unfortunately, we could also hear shots and cries before the video was stopped. So terrible…

The Los Angeles Times reported that the gunman was a gamer who lost in the tournament. Reporters came up with such conclusion after checking up on the messages from another player in the room. According to the player, the shooter targeted several victims and killed himself.

Another woman said that the shooter got into a small argument with a gamer, and then left the room. The firing started shortly after the argument.

There’s still no official confirmation of the accounts of the events.

“As I was going in the restroom, I stayed in there, and I just heard – there was just so many gunshots, at least 20 of them at the most,” said Ryen Aleman, a witness. He traveled from Texas to play in the tournament.
