Tom Brady Reacts to Patriots’ Preseason Loss to the Panthers

The New England Patriots lost the third preseason game, and experts agree that the team didn’t play well. Quarterback Tom Brady couldn’t help the team win the game.

According to head coach Bill Belichick, Patriots failed to execute “in any three phases of the game.” The team scored just three points in the first half. Mike Gillislee had a last minute bid for the roster position he’s competing for with a two-yard touchdown run. But, the rest of the game was bad. Tom Brady agrees on this one.

Brady played in the entire first half, and completed 12 of 18 pass attempts for 102 yards. He couldn’t find the end zone, and didn’t lead the TD-scoring drive. The team’s offensive bit couldn’t match with the NFL MVP.

“I think any time you go on the road and play a good team you’ve got to make the plays. I think tonight’s a great example when you don’t and they do. We didn’t do much in the first quarter and got behind. Then you fight uphill all night against a good team it’s tough to win,” Brady said after the game.

Brady was confident about wide receivers Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson, but was predictabl held up on the Pats’ inability to execute on 3rd and 4th downs.

“I mean we had the ball for a minute in the first quarter and that’s a tough way to start, but you know, you’ve got to dig your way out of that hole. We’re not out there to go out and punt or kick field goals. We’re out there to score points and hopefully score touchdowns. Our execution needs to be better. I mean you look back at a lot of the things I thought about in the second half, all the things that we could do: it’s a lot of us. It’s not so much what the other team is doing, although it’s a very good defense, our base execution needs to be better,” Brady said.

The Patriots will play against the Giants in New York next Thursday.
