Bill Belichick Opens Up About The Upcoming Game vs. Texans

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has coached against the best coaching talent in the league, and also joined forces with the best of the best. The Houston Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel sure earned Belichick’s respect.

“Nobody’s better than Romeo in running a defense and creating problems for the offense. It’s just a very challenging situation for us or any team that plays them, but in this case, this week us,” the Patriots head coach said of the Texans coach Romeo Crennel.

Will Crennel be able to make a difference to the defense? Crennel was part of the Patriots team throughout three Super Bowl wins. He also led Houston to turning into the No. 1 defense in the NFL during his time as defensive coordinator in 2016. That season the three time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt only took part in three games. The rest of the season was Crennel coaching Houston players all the way to the top. Without the top defender, of course.

“One of the things the Texans do a good job of is they don’t always line up in the same place. So, sometimes finding them or identifying where they are is a little bit of a problem — not that you can’t find a guy, but depending on what you have called and where he’s located, then that might change what your anticipated match-up on the play is and then what it really is could be two different things. They do a good job of creating problems on that,” Belichick said.

The Patriots will be dealing with a few problems because the only injury to affect Crennel’s starting lineup is cornerback Kevin Johnson who is about to clear his concussion protocol. Houston has a healthy front, and that’s sort of terrifying. Is Tom Brady ready for this?
