LeBron James Issues Statement On Nike’s Kaepernick Campaign

LeBron James received an award for his style and philanthropy from Harlem’s Fashion Row. Nike took part in the event, and the only purpose of this partnership was providing a fashion show and an awards ceremony that focuses on diversity in the world of fashion. No Nike event can go without the mention of Colin Kaepernick.

Yes, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be the 30th face of Nike’s Just Do It Campaign. The NBA star expressed his full support and respect for both Nike and Kaepernick.

LeBron spoke about his family, and didn’t miss the opportunity to say he stands “for anybody who believes in change.”

“I stand with Nike, all day, every day,” LeBron said.

Nike’s latest ad features Colin and one of his most famous quotes. “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything,” the ad read.

Kaepernick’s new endorsement triggered an avalanche of reactions, and most Nike fans were disappointed with the brand’s latest move. Most of these are still angry at the former quarterback for disrespecting the national anthem. For others, Nike just pulled out another business trick.

Colin Kaepernick was removed from the National Football League after kneeling for the national anthem throughout the entire season. Many athletes supported him, and even followed his example. The former quarterback was protesting against police brutality, racial inequality and other social issues of today’s world.

But, LeBron is fine with Nike signing the former quarterback. He made sure everybody understands his point of view. The king of basketball had taken a side, and this could sparkle a vigorous debate. Is he ready for the backlash that may arrive on his address? Athletes have split opinion of Kaepernick’s kneeling, meaning that those who disapprove his move will sure oppose LeBron. Is this really just a business?
