Marquis Flowers Opens Up About Leaving Patriots

Marquis Flowers had high hopes regarding his future game in the league, but everything changed after the NFL trimming.

The New England Patriots released the linebacker, and Marquis Flowers was looking for a different opportunity with other teams. Flowers spent all of training camp and preseason preparing for a game with the Pats. Things don’t always go the way we plan.

The Detroit Lions snatched Flowers up for the roster at a very needy spot. The linebacker is pretty humble about his talent, and doesn’t brag too much.

“It’s the beginning of the season. Training camp, I wasn’t here with them, I got a lot of work to do to catch up,” Flowers told reporters right after joining the Lions.

The first thing Flowers needs to do is convincing coaches and teammates he really deserves a role in team.

“Whatever the team needs me to do. That’s how I am. Whatever the team needs me, wherever they need me. I don’t care where it is. However I can help the team, that’s what I’m going to do. Earn the trust of the teammates, earn the trust of the coaches,” he noted.

Flowers didn’t really think that the Patriots would release him, but decided to look at the positives. He had enough time to spend with his loved ones, and there was a happy ending. So, yes, he should be happy with the final outcome.

“I was a little confused with that, I’m not going to lie. Again, it was a weird day. I’m just thankful I got to hold my newborn baby again since I had her. I’m glad everything worked out. I don’t want to say how quick it happened, it’s one of those things that happened over there, and I’m just glad the Lions called and told me I could come over,” Flowers said of the release.

Good luck with the new team, Flowers!
