Report: Patriots Cut Ties With Yet Another Wide Receiver

The New England Patriots are still after the winning formula. They have released too many players, but also signed a few top names. This time the team released another wide receiver, right before the Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Patriots released Beannie Fowler, and promoted offensive tackle Cole Croston. The team re-signed wide receiver Riley McCarron to the practice squad. It’s funny that they made such decision, because McCarron was waived earlier this week.

Fowler signed his contract with New England on Tuesday, and will join Chad Hansen and Amara Darboh in the group of receivers who were released before even making a debut with the team.

Croston’s promotion shows that starting right tackle Marcus Cannon won’t play on Sunday. Cannon rotated with LaAdrian Waddle during his game against the Houston Texans. He was limited with a calf injury and we don’t really know if he’ll play against the Jags.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic said that Cannon probably won’t play this weekend, and Waddle may start in his place.
New England had three tackles on the active roster – Waddle, Cannon and starting left tackle Trent Brown – before signing Croston. The team is getting ready to face the Jaguars, and we know that their defense was ranked second in the NFL in sacks in 2017 season. Waddle and Cannon missed the Patriot’s last game against the Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game.

The Patriots didn’t add another running back to the active roster. Rex Burkhead had concussion and Sony Michel suffered a knee injury. They’re both listed as questionable. Experts believe that one or both of them will be active on Sunday.

The Patriots-Jaguars game will be pretty big, and experts have already made predictions. Some say the Patriots would win the game, while others claim that the Jaguars will be the ultimate winners. What about you?
