Tom Brady Makes Urgent Request Of Patriots Heading Into Week 3

The New England Patriots lost the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quarterback Tom Brady didn’t see this as a discouragement, but it was definitely bad to see his team lose. Week 3 will definitely be better.

The Patriots’ 31-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars will something Brady will never forget. The quarterback is unhappy with the team’s production, and was disappointed by the offense. He appeared on WEEI’s Kirk and Callahan on Monday morning, and talked about the major loss and the upcoming game in Week 3.

“We have to get our minds right. Have much more urgency, much more competitiveness right from the start of the game and we have to start playing better. We just didn’t perform to our level of expectation in any way. I think when you do that and you go on the road against a good team that does perform, you’re going to come up short. There was no area of the game where we performed to where we needed to be. They beat us basically in every area — third down, first down, red area. It just was not a very good day for us,” Brady said.

The Patriots totaled 302 yards of total defense, and Brady was able to complete 24 of his 35 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Rob Gronkowski was held to just two catches for 15 yards.

“I thought they did one or two things a little different. He was double-covered I would say most of the day on third down, which gives other people opportunities, but we could never really get into a rhythm at the [receiver] position. We had an opportunity early in the game and I kind of thought they got away with a call on the first drive [defensive holding], which would have been a big play to Rob. We were really out of rhythm all day,” Brady said of the game.

The quarterback said the loss was the first road test of the year. “No, it’s going on the road and figuring out what we need to do to win. It was our first opportunity to do that with this team, this season. We’ve been pretty good on the road the last few years. We knew it was going to be a tough game playing against a good team. There was a lot on the line for both teams and competitively we just came up way short,” he added.
