Brady Reacts To Gronkowski’s Comments On Trade Report

The possible trade of the Patriots tight end wasn’t the hottest topic this preseason. Maybe because nobody was talking about that. But, yes, the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions talked over the possibility for Gronk to be shipped to Detroit.

Trade talks got even more intense in the week of the NFL Draft. However, Gronk wasn’t interested in going anywhere, and he was more than positive about his stay with head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Foxboro was his home, and he didn’t even think of leaving it.

Reporters asked Gronk about the discussion, and he confirmed it, but doubled down on his plans to stay with the Pats and Brady. “Yeah, it happened. Brady’s my quarterback, that’s all. Wasn’t going anywhere without Brady,” Gronk said.

During his appearance on WEEI’s Kirk and Callahan, Brady talked about his comments, and the quarterback talked about his admiration for Gronkowski.

“I don’t want to get into any hypotheticals and things like that. I have played with him for a long time. I think so highly of him as a player, as a person, as a friend, as a teammate and I am lucky to play with such a great player and someone who I just love being out there with. [He is] such a great competitor with what he’s fought through over the course of his career. Nothing short of a miracle in a lot of ways. … I love playing with Gronk. I am happy he is on our team. I am happy he’s playing for us and I know he’s worked hard to have a great year, and we all have to improve. He’s a guy that I really count on and rely on to be a great player for us week in and week out,” Brady said.

“Well, I think that speaks to our relationship and I feel as strongly about him as he does about me. I love the guy. He has had a big impact on my career personally, professionally. Like I said, I am very lucky to play with him and we’re going to keep fighting. We are going to keep going after it week in and week out. We’re going to figure out a way to get this thing turned around,” the quarterback added of his relationship with Gronk.

There you go.
