Skip Bayless Releases Groundbreaking Belichick-Brady Theory

The New England Patriots lost their game against the Detroit Lions, and many felt free to express their opinion, including Skip Bayless.

Some would say that the Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is intentionally making life harder for quarterback Tom Brady. Yes, Skip Bayless said something like this on Monday on FS1’s “Undisputed.” He believes that the Patriots are in “huge trouble” after their Week 3 loss to the Lions on Sunday night.

“The Patriots are in huge trouble because I do not believe Bill Belichick, the genius, can make this defense that much better. And there are times when I’m not really sure he wants to make this defense that much better, because it seems like again and again he’s trying to make it harder and harder on Tom Brady to succeed,” Bayless said.

“How can Bill Belichick keep getting away with this? If he had traded Rob Gronkowski at age 29 … would that not be the equivalent of the Khalil Mack trade?”

If you ask Bayless for more info on the theory, he’d say that it all started with Belichick wanting Jimmy Garoppolo to be his starting quarterback this season. According to his theory, Belichick didn’t want Brady on the starting position, but Patriots owner Robert Kraft got involved and sent Garoppolo straight to the San Francisco 49ers last October.

Maybe the head coach planned to move forward with the 27-year-old quarterback. Brady is 41, and he has just entered his 19th season with the Patriots. Maybe Belichick is just frustrated with the Garoppolo trade. He did look like Brady’s successor after all. But, we can’t really believe that Belichick is sabotaging the Patriots’ chances of winning the games. Or is he?

Bayless’ theory isn’t outlandish. The Patriots defense was horrible in the past three weeks, and the team seems to be in trouble after the couple of losses.
