Patriots Place Two Players On Injured Reserve

The New England Patriots have been dealing with too many injuries lately. The team put another two players on injury reserve.

Jim McBride of The Boston Globe confirmed that the Patriots are putting running back Rex Burkhead and rookie linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley on injured reserve.

Burkhead suffered a rather serious injury, and the Patriots had to bring back running back Kenjon Barner. Burkhead left the Week 3 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to the neck injury. He signed with the New England Patriots prior to 2017, and suffered several injuries during that time. He was help to 10 games in the regular seasons due to his injuries and the knee ailment that limited him throughout the team’s run to Super Bowl LII. In his three games this season Burkhead totaled 86 yards on the ground and caught three of his six targets for 31 yards.

Bentley was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s one of the biggest surprises of the season. The Patriots showed that they don’t really have too much trust in the rookie.

Bentley was even compared to Jerod Mayod.

“He reminds me a little bit of a guy that I got drafted with here. They wore the same number, too. He’s a good kid. He’s really done a great job. He’s really been a leader. His buy-in has been tremendous. His play on the field has been tremendous. He’s a player that players in this locker room really trust and have a lot of confidence in, so hopefully he’ll continue to grow and improve like the rest of us. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for him,” Slater said two weeks ago.

The Patriots will have to wait and see how will things develop for Bentley.
