LeBron James Joining Lakers Changes Klay Thompson’s future

LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers, and his arrival in the Western Conference will add a few changes to the team. King James will completely change the NBA this season, and his decision to join the Lakers was a mind-blowing move. The 2019 free agency class will be super deep, and LeBron’s shadow may push Kawhi Leonard and Klay Thompson to Hollywood.

That’s why Klay’s father, Mychal Thompson, said when asked about the new situation. “You are talking about guys for whom pecking order becomes really important. The perception of how people are going to look at you is important for these guys. If Klay came to L.A., which he should, then he knows he is going to slot in behind LeBron. But it is fine because he has done it before , it is not a big deal,” Mychal said during the Mason and Ireland radio show.

“Kawhi is a top-five guy who is a Finals MVP. I know what the pitch is ‘you come here, you win another title and in two or three years LeBron is going to be 35 years old and you will transition and become the guy.’ But that doesn’t mean Kawhi wants to go through that. But on the other hand, he might love the idea of being in LeBron’s shadow. He doesn’t have to do anything,” Klay’s father added.

Mychal sure wants his son to head down the I-5 to keep the family legacy in the forum blue and gold. However, it doesn’t really make a sense for Klay to leave the Warriors who can give him a few nice conditions and a thick contract.

Changes are coming, and we’ll wait for the new season to begin. Let’s see how will Kawhi, Klay and the rest of the guys handle the new game in the Western Conference.
