Report: Injury Update Comes In On Rob Gronkowski’s Ankle

The New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was limited on Thursday’s practice due to a reported ankle injury. The injury update is here, and includes all the details of Gronk’s condition.

The Patriots are super cautious with the All-Pro tight end, and any injury could affect his role on the field. Gronk has an extensive list of injuries that put him away from the field in several occasions. When it comes to his latest injury, the injury update suggests that Gronk is in a good condition.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirmed that there’s “nothing concerning” about the tight end’s injury.

“The ankle injury actually popped up on the injury report on [Thursday] which anytime a player is all of a sudden limited during a random mid-week practice it is something that can be cause for concern and sometime that can cause of flurry of phone calls. My understanding is Gronk was limited because he just wanted to take it easy [Thursday] on that ankle,” Rapoport said on Good Morning Football.

“Nothing concerning here as far as his overall health or, in my understanding, his availability for Sunday. We’ll see whether or not Gronk goes out and practices [Friday] and how much he can actually do, but the overall view on this is that it is nothing to be worried about. That said for Gronkowski, all eyes are going to be on him going forward. The Jaguars made it a huge point to stop him, they actually did, but the Patriots, of course, do have one more offensive weapon in Josh Gordon that might open Gronk up just a little bit this weekend.”

The Patriots can breathe easy now. Losing Gronkowski would be a disaster as he is of the utmost importance for the team’s receiving game. Josh Gordon still needs time to acclimate dot the Patriots offense, and Julian Edelman is suspended.
