Report: Patriots Work Out Former Ravens Receiver

The New England Patriots are trying to add new players to their roster in order to win the next game. The team lost the last two games, and head coach Bill Belichick thought it’s time for a change. The Patriots have worked out several players, including this former Ravens receiver.

The Patriots took a chance on an underperforming first-round draft pick when they welcomed Corey Coleman earlier this month. Now they’re working out former Baltimore Ravens wideout Breshad Perriman.

Perriman visited the team for a workout, as confirmed by a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The wideout is a 26th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie season due to an injury, and then recorded 33 catches on 66 targets for 499 yards and three touchdowns as an NFL sophomore. The numbers changed last season, and Perriman caught 10 passes on 34 targets for 77 yards and no touchdowns in 11 games.

The Ravens didn’t pick up his fifth-year contract option, and released him before the beginning of his fourth season. Perriman signed a contract with the Washington Redskins last week, but was released right after that.

The Patriots have trouble finding quality receivers. They’ve welcomed and released many of them. The team has released Riley McCarron, Amara Darboh, Chad Hansen, Bennie Fowler and Coleman since the beginning of the season. The Pats also said ‘goodbye’ to Jordan Matthews, Malcolm Mitchell, Eric Decker, Kenny Britt, Devin Lucien, K.J. Maye and Paul Turner in the preseason, and put rookie Braxton Berrios on injured reserve.

New England relies on Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Cordarrelle Patterson and Josh Gordon. Julian Edelman is joining his team next week after his four-game suspension ends. This will probably change the course of the season, and the Patriots are hoping for a miracle.
