Breaking: Another Receiver Files Injury Grievance Against Patriots

The New England Patriots are hit with another injury grievance.

This is the second wide receiver to file an injury grievance against the team seeking his full salary from the 2018 season.

Veteran receiver Kenny Britt was released on August 22 without any injury designation. Now he filed a grievance seeking his entire salary from the Patriots, as confirmed by NFL Players Association records. Britt is seeking $1.05 million.

The veteran receiver injured his hamstring during spring workouts, and wasn’t active in the first four weeks of training camp. He was often wearing the Patriots uniform and worked with trainers on a side field.

Ex-Patriots receiver Malcolm Mitchell also filed an injury grievance against the Patriots. He was dealing with a chronic knee injury, and seeks his entire $630,000 salary.

Britt’s agent Fadde Mikhail confirmed the release. The receiver has suffered a hamstring injury in June during minicamp. His release didn’t come as a surprise because he wasn’t present in camp and didn’t played in the two exhibition games.

“You never know with a hamstring. One day you’ll feel good and then [you’ll feel] something popping. Other days you might feel bad and that might be the fastest time that you ran out there. So, it’s really a feel thing, day in and day out,” Britt said of his release.

The receiver was one of the standouts during OTAs. He played well with quarterback Tom Brady until he suffered the injury.

“I think it’s just different stages at different times. Whether it’s Kenny or other players, you have setbacks with injuries and so forth, and you don’t get the work. But when you are out there, you just try to get up to speed as best you can. Spending extra time when you’re available, I think that’s important. You know, Kenny was here at the end of last year, so I had a lot of reps with him, and hopefully he can make the most of his opportunity,” Brady said of Britt’s release.
