Tom Brady Sends Congratulation Message To Drew Brees On Passing Yards Record

Drew Brees entered NFL history as the league’s all-time passing yards leader. He leaped over former Colts and Broncos quarterback Peyton Maning who had the records at 71,941. Brees needed another 201 yards to leap over Manning, and officially broke his record in a dramatic style. He completed a 62-yard touchdown pass to rookie Tre’Quan Smith and reached a different level in the NFL history.

Professional athletes congratulated Drew Brees on his record, and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The quarterback took to Instagram on Monday night, and added a pic to his story congratulating Brees.

“It’s hard for me to reflect too much right now just because my career’s not done. There are still goals to be accomplished. There are still challenges to be met. And so I’m still very focused on that. And yet, when something like this happens, there are so many people who are responsible for that, that are a part of that, that makes me happy. It makes me proud and it makes me extremely grateful — extremely grateful for the opportunity to play this game, to play it as long as I’ve played it, to have wound up here in New Orleans. It’s just been an unbelievable journey,” Brees said of his record after the win.

After Monday Night Football, Brees made the record at 72,103 yards. Manning and Brett Favre are at 71,940 and 71,838 yards. Tom Brady is fourth with his 67,418 yards, and he has a great chance of surpassing Manning and Favre is he plays a few more seasons.

Brady considers his milestone as an accomplishment of the entire team. He threw the 500th touchdown pass in the game against the Colts.

“Well, I think all these things like that, milestones and so forth, there are so many people that contribute. So, I just think of all the people that have really worked hard. You know, a quarterback doesn’t throw them to himself. He needs people to catch them and block and defenses make plays and coaches to coach. These are all great team awards. So, pretty cool,” the quarterback said.
