Lakers Showcase First Glimpse of LeBron James-Lonzo Ball Duo

One of the greatest concerns related to LeBron James’ new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers was his relationship with point guard Lonzo Ball. Many wondered if the duo can coexist on the same basketball court this season. Well, it seems like they are playing just fine.

The Lakers had the opportunity to have both stars on the same basketball court for the first time during the matchup against the Golden State Warriors. King James played during the preseason, and Lakers’ fans had enough time to get to know the star. Lonzo Ball used this period to recover from his knee surgery, and made his debut on Wednesday.

They did not spend too much time together on the court, but there was definitely a highlight reel.

On this particular play that the Lakers executed last year pretty often, LeBron found the point guard with a brilliant backscreen alley-oop.

“When you got an athletic point guard like that, it’s my job to put it up there for him to go get it. I think we’ve all seen (Ball’s athleticism) since he was in high school, I believe,” LeBron said after the game. He had 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

King James also drained a buzzer-beater, and played for 17 minutes in the first half.

Lonzo Ball played 23 minutes, and finished with seven points on 3 of 5 shooting. He also had four rebounds, four steals, two assists and three turnovers. The point guard shot 31% from three-point range last season, and this time he air-balled the only attempt from beyond the arc.

“When you play with LeBron, you got to keep playing, because he’s easy to watch, as much stuff as he does. He had a monster first half. Best player in the world, that is what he does,” Ball told reporters.
