Red Sox Announce Chris Sale Admitted To Hospital

One do not just go from the ALCS straight to a hospital, but Chris Sale has a different story to tell.

In the middle of the Game 2 ALCS showdown against the Houston Astros, the Red Sox announced that Chris Sale was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital after reporting a stomach illness. The team confirmed that their ace will be kept in the hospital overnight for a detailed diagnosis.

Sale was admitted to hospital just a few hours after he played in Game 1 of the series. The south paw struggled against the Astros and lasted four innings while making 86 pitches on the night. He allowed two runs, four walks and one hit during the night. He struck out five in Boston’s 7-2 loss to drop in the series 1-0 as they are trying to make a bid for a World Series play.

“I just went out there and lost it for a little bit. I felt like I was battling myself for a little bit. I was trying to limit the damage and get out there as quick as we can,” Sale said after the contest on Saturday.

This is not the first time Sale deals with health problems. He suffered a shoulder injury and had a few DL stings. Sale finished the regular season with a 12-4 record, a 2.11 ERA and 237 strikeouts on 158 innings pitched.
