Former Patriots Linebacker Open To Patriots Reunion

Former Patriots linebacker seems to be ready for a reunion, and let’s just say that he has some great chances of doing so.

Marquis Flowers was released from the Detroit Lions a week ago, and he did a Twitter Q&A with his followers. The former Patriots linebacker answered questions about the possibility that he returns to Foxboro. One of his followers asked if he would come back to the New England Patriots, and Flowers said that it is a “possibility.”

Flowers was also asked if he would return to New England if the team pursued him. “Of course,” he replied.

The linebacker was released during the final roster trimming this summer after he inked a deal with the club this offseason. Prior to the release, Flowers made $200,000 from his signing bonus and additional $50,000 from workout bonuses. Flowers made his way to New England after the team traded a 2018 seventh round draft pick to the Bengals right before the start of the last season.

The 26-year-old player totaled 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks while playing 26.7 percent of the defensive snaps in the last season. flowers contributed on special teams playing in 46.34 percent of the snaps, and this was the sixth highest on the Pats in 2017. In the playoffs, the linebacker was active in all three contests for the Patriots. He compiled six tackles and a sack.

Prior to his free agency last offseason, Flowers expressed his willingness to stay with the New England Patriots. Seeing him express the same desire does not come as a surprise, because he is a free agent looking for a home.

The Patriots released Flowers this summer because they were too tight at other positions and had more capable players at the linebacker position. Flowers signed on with the Lions, and played five games with them.
The Patriots are plagued with injuries, and it will not be strange to see him in Foxboro again.

Flowers is not angry at the Pats for releasing him. “Nothing, but love and appreciation to the Patriots organization and the entire state of Massachusetts. I enjoyed every last second and wouldn’t change it for nothing!” Flowers wrote on his Instagram this summer.
