Brady Recalls Epic Juke Against Brain Urlacher Back In 2006

The New England Patriots are getting ready for their big challenge on Sunday. Tom Brady and his teammates will challenge the Chicago Bears, and the quarterback sure has history with them. In 2006, in the week 12 contest with the Bears, Brady tucked the ball on a 3rd & 9 play and went for a run for a first down. The quarterback had the field ready for him and there was just one Bears defender: Brian Urlacher.

The Patriots quarterback rushed towards Brian Urlacher, had a like juke out to the right and eluded him for the first time.

Brady was never considered a mobile quarterback outside the pocket, and this moment sure was achievement for him as a runner. The quarterback still remembers it.

“I’m going to be bragging to everyone about that for a long time. Yeah, that was a good play. You don’t see too many runs like that from me. Against a Hall of Famer. I’m lucky I didn’t get my head taken off. But that was pretty memorable. I was pretty jacked up after that. I thought Brian [Urlacher]’s a great player and I had a lot of respect for him, how he played. Yeah, going toward the lighthouse and it was third down and every once in a while, I kind of shake someone and I got him. Probably won’t ever happen again,” Brady said.

Brady is not a running quarterback, and he will enter the Sunday’s contest posting rushing touchdowns in back-to-back games. He told Jim Gray that he has put a greater accent of being more mobile in practice.

“When [opportunities to run] come up in certain moments, you’ve got to take advantage. They don’t really come up for me that often, and unfortunately, instinctually, I don’t have those instincts to just take off and go. I’m always thinking, ‘Throw it. Throw it. Throw it. Throw it.’ It’s never saying, ‘Hey, take off and go.’ And some guys who have a lot of confidence in their speed, that becomes more a part of their game. I think in the offseason, it’s good for me to train like that [so] when I have the opportunities in the game, I could take advantage of it. I’ve had a couple runs this year, and I’m really trying to build on it,” Brady said.
