Injury Updates Come In On Sony Michel And Rob Gronkowski

The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Chicago Bears but could not really count on their powerful offense players. The team won the Week 7 contest without Rob Gronkowski, and Sony Michel left the game early.

Rob Gronkowski did not accompany his teammates on their trip to Chicago due to his back injury. The Patriots ruled him out, and this does not come as a surprise, because Gronk already has a history with his back. He had three surgeries to treat the issue, but it seems like the injury will bug him for the rest of his life.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the tight end will come back for the practice this week, adding that he will also play with his teammates on Monday.

“With Gronkowski, he did not play in this game, obviously. He did not even take the charter with the team just because his back locked up in Friday’s practice. They did not want to take any chances. Just did not feel well enough to go, but I’m told that this is not a long term injury and the expectation right now is that Gronk will not even miss any time. Obviously they’re going to monitor it. It’s a back and he’s had some issues, but this one seems like it’s going to be OK and, of course, the Patriots ended up winning anyway,” Rapoport told Morning Football.

Sony Michel suffered a knee injury in the contest and was assisted to the sideline. The rookie was carted to the Patriots locker room due to the severity of his injury.

“As far as Sony Michel, there’s certainly a little more mystery there regarding his knee injury, the same knee by the way that he injured in college at Georgia. The Patriots were fine on him medically coming out of the draft and obviously the took him in the first round so the like all different parts of him, but generally it bears watching. He does have an MRI [on Monday]. We’ve not gotten further word on what the injury is,” Rapoport said.
