Report: Patriots Keep An Eye On Young NFL Quarterback

The New England Patriots win games thanks to quarterback Tom Brady, and they do not really need another quarterback at the moment. Nobody can replace the TB12, and it is literally impossible to improve upon Brady.

However, Brady will not be here forever, as he is 41. Although he promised to play until he is 45, he also talks how much he is missing by continuing to play.

Let’s not forget the alleged tension between the quarterback and head coach Bill Belichick. Brady skipped the voluntary part of the team’s offseason program and worked out on his own. The quarterback used his time to have fun with his wife and kids.

We do not really know if Brady will retire next season. If the Patriots win the Super Bowl in February, Brady will match Michael Jordan in terms of championships. Is there any possibility that he gets better than this? I do not think so.

If Brady retired in 2016, the team would have been just great. Jimmy Garoppolo was about to become the starter, and Jacoby Brissett would have earned the role of long-term backup. Brian Hoyer cannot replace Garoppolo, and Danny Etling is not as great as Brissett.

Some say that the team needs a young quarterback to grow into Brady’s position. Julian Edelman is still productive and Josh Gordon will stick around for a while. Sony Michel is still young and capable, and James White is a brilliant pass-catching back. Stephon Gilmore, Dont’a Hightower and Trey Flowers are still in their primes, and Devin McCourty plays in his specific style. The Patriots cannot lose Brady, and the only thing they should focus on is finding another veteran in case Brady retires after the season.

If the Patriots are willing to invest into a current quarterback, they should better focus on Derek Carr. The Oakland Raiders are not going to trade him, but they cannot be trusted at the moment. Let’s not forget about Jon Gruden and his history with quarterbacks.
