Sony Michel Makes His Next Step After Knee Injury

The New England Patriots had their last practice on Saturday, and got one of their injured players back. Is Sony Michel back?

The Pats are ready for the Monday Night Football with the Buffalo Bills, and ESPN’s Mike Reiss confirmed that Sony Michel was back to practice. He came back less than a week after suffering a knee injury in the matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Michel missed the previous practices, but he seems fine now. The back suffered his terrible injury after taking the 1st & 19 handoff from quarterback Tom Brady to start off the second quarter. He was rolled up on by Bears defensive end Bilal Nichols and lied on the ground after fumbling the ball. Michel was helped to the sideline and was then carted to the Patriots locker room. The Pats ruled him out for the game.

Michel’s MRI showed that his knee has no structural damage, and yes, he dodged a bullet here. The Patriots were super thrilled about the good news. Michell got back on the field for the games, and his status for Monday’s matchup is still in the air.

Jim McBride from The Boston Globe reported that although Michel’s condition is not too serious, he is likely to miss a week or two. The Patriots will probably hold out the back against an inferior opponent and maybe rest him up for the next game against the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium.

Michel, Rob Gronkowski and Marcus Cannon were on the field on Saturday, and this is the third straight practice that each of them was able to suit up.

Gronkowski and Cannon missed the contest against the Bears due to their injuries, and their are on their way to make a return for this game. Keep up the good job, Pats!
