Report: Patriots About To Trade For Premium Wide Receiver

The New England Patriots are all about winning the Super Bowl, and head coach Bill Belichick would do whatever it takes to create the ultimate team. The team has another trick to use prior to the NFL Trade Deadline.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports went on the Fox pregame show and confirmed that the Patriots are trying to acquire another premium wide receiver about a month after New England signed a trade deal for Josh Gordon.

“Here’s a surprise for you also. The New England Patriots, they are trying to go after a bonafide, premium wide receiver offering up high draft choices for that,” Glazer said.

This info comes as a surprise if you take into consideration the fact that the New England Patriots traded for Josh Gordon and welcomed Julian Edelman to the field. Sony Michel is here, too. The Patriots’ offense is not the biggest concern at the moment, because they have scored 38 points in the last month. Maybe the team is just looking for alternatives.

There are a few available names on the market. The Denver Broncos have Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. DeSean Jackson has requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to latest reports, the New York Giants are looking for a deal about trading star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Is he the “bonafide, premium wider receiver” Glaze talked about? It is hard to say that the Giants would trade Beckham after landing him through a five-year contract worth $95 million.

The Patriots are probably thinking on a long-term possibility. Edelman is 32 and suffered a torn ACL. Chris Hogan will become free agent, and Rob Gronkowski may be the player they are planning to replace if the team is into signing a game-changing pass catcher. Gronk suffered a few terrible injuries, and his contract may not be restructured in near future.

The league’s deadline is on Tuesday, October 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
