Bill Belichick Rages About Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes And His ‘Fabulous Arm’

Patrick Mahomes turned the NFL upside down in his first season as the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. He will keep up doing his job this Sunday when the undefeated Chiefs will visit the New England Patriots for the big matchup. Is this the “Game of the Year?” Of course it is.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick praised Patrick Mahomes in his conference call Monday morning. Mahomes leads the league with 14 touchdown passes in five games. When asked about his opinion on the young quarterback, Belichick said he is impressed with “pretty much everything.”

“He gets the ball to all of his receivers, quick release. He sees things quickly, can extend plays. He’s got a great arm — got a fabulous arm. He can throw the ball out of the stadium. He makes good decisions, accurate, gets the ball out on time,” Belichick said.

“No matter where it goes, it gets there pretty quickly. The further the quarterback can throw it then the more you’ve got to defend. If the ball is on their 20-yard line you’ve still got to defend to the goal line against him,” Belichick said. “He can rip it.”

“When you’re picking 61st, I mean, there’s a lot of guys you can eliminate. I wouldn’t say we spent an inordinate amount of time on players that at 61 we had no chance of getting,” the head coach said.

Mahomes’ worst statistical game was on Sunday in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had no touchdown passes and two interceptions. However, he did guide the Chiefs to a 30-14 victory. The team reached its 5-0 record.
A week earlier, Mahomes had one touchdown pass, but lead a dramatic fourt-quarter comeback to stun the Broncos at 27-23 at Mile High.

How will the team play its next game?
