Dont’a Hightower Makes Promising Statement About Patriots Defense

Patriots fans have noticed that the defense has improved over the last few weeks. The Patriots had a few excellent games, and the first two quarters of their last contest against the Kansas City Chiefs are their best so far. The team managed to hold the Chiefs to nine points, and that is absolutely great. The defense struggled at the beginning of the season, but the Pats are definitelt moving in the right direction. If you ask Dont’a Hightower, he will say that his teammates are “taking the right strides.”

I feel like we are taking the right strides. I feel like each week and we prepare the best way that we can. Most of the time we come out with a good game plan and we come in with corrections to make on the sideline, so hopefully we continue do that and get better at those adjustments on the sidelines,” Dont’a Hightower said.

Hightower is coming off one of his best contests of the regular season. He recorded an interception, two tackles and a quarterback hit. The linebacker lost the end of the 2017 season due to a torn pectoral muscle. He had a slow start this year, but he is definitely improving.

“I feel like I am getting better each week and I hope to keep continuing to do that. I still missed a couple of days, a couple missed assignments, or whatever. I am just going to keep continuing to stride to be better each week,” the linebacker said.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores pointed to the consistency from the players on the defense line.

“I think consistency is something that we strive for on a daily basis in this game, or really in anything. I’d say we’ve played how we wanted to play in pockets. I thought the first half was a great example of that and we had some success. We’ve just got to do a good job of just playing more consistent. I think our guys understand that. We talk about it. We talk about being consistent, and we talk about just working to improve that consistency really on a day-to-day basis. I think they’ve bought into that and they’re working to get that done. We’ve just got to continue to work at it and then we’ve just got to produce on the field. That’s really what it boils down to,” Flores said.
