Patriots Give Update About Sony Michel’s Status After Knee Injury

Sony Michel suffered a knee injury on his 1st & 10 play run as he was rolled up on by Bilal Nichols. The Patriots rookie fumbled the football in the process and lied down on the field for a while. His injury was so bad that he had to be helped to the sideline.

Trainers evaluated the rookie, and Michel was then carted to the Patriots locker room. The injury was rather serious, and the New England Patriots ruled Michel as questionable to return to the game. However, now they have downgraded the player to out as both the Patriots and Bears returned to the field for second half of the contest.

This is a hard hit for the Patriots as they already struggle with too many injuries. Tight end Rob Gronkowski does not play this Sunday due to his back injury, but is expected to play in the Week 8 contest. The loss of Sony Michel is a bad blow for the team, and nobody expected such scenario, especially if you take into consideration his last three games. Michel rushed for 100-yards twice and scored four touchdowns in the stretch. In Week 7, the rookie rushed for 400 yards and his four touchdowns. He was definitely a bright spot in the Patriots’ backfield, but it seems like this injury will keep him out of the game for a while.

Before suffering the knee injury, Michel was off to a strong game. he rushed for 22 yards on four carries and was able to catch his target for 13 yards.

If Michel goes out, head coach Bill Belichick will have to find a way to play with James White and Kenjon Barner. How will the team handle this injury? Same as they used to before Michel injured his knee badly.
