Report: Bill Belichick Gave His Final Thoughts On Preparing For The Chiefs

The New England Patriots are getting ready for the big game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and head coach Bill Belichick spoke about the guys’ readiness to win.

Bill Belichick touched several crucial points of the game, noting some of the biggest dangers on the field. According to him, Travis Kelce will give the Patriots some hard time. “Really dangerous. Yeah, he’s good. He’s big, athletic, got great hands. Andy Reid does a good job of making it hard to find him, create situations where he can get opportunities,” Belichick said.

Reporters asked him questions about Patrick Chung and his size. “Yeah, well, each player has a unique matchup against another player, so we all have different strengths and weaknesses, and so does the guy we’re playing against. So, each individual matchup, you try to take advantage of what you feel like you can take advantage of physically and whether it’s scheme or position-related. So, each one’s a little bit different. Kelce at tight end is one thing. Kelce split out is another thing. Kelce in the red area is one thing. Kelce on third down’s another thing. Kelce on first down’s another thing. I mean, that’s a much longer conversation than just, ‘Well, we’re just going to do this.’ I mean, it depends on where he is and what situation we’re talking about and what we’re in, where our help is, if any,” the head coach said.

When asked if he had seen Kelce split out more this season, Belichick said he spits out a lot.

The head coach also made comparison to the Chiefs’ preparation last year, noting that Kelce does not line up in the same spot all the time. Yes, they sure can split him out on every play.

Belichick is happy with the communication between Jason McCourty and the safeties, adding that Jason is a great on-field communicator. Jason is a smart player, and has great experience. He may be new to New England, but he is not new to the league. McCourty knows how offensive systems work.
