Report: New England Patriots Eyeing Giants Corner Via Trade

The New England Patriots let a few corners slip down their hands in the last period. The team has turned over the position fully since the 2014 championship. But, the team is eyeing another corner for the roster.

In 2014, we saw Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner as starters on the team. They left in free agency, and Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan came to their position. They left, too, and are now part of the Tennessee Titans family.

Stephon Gilmore replaced Butler, but the team has struggled finding another corner. Eric Rowe did a good job in camp, but left. Jason McCourty settled as corner, but the Patriots are not too happy with him. They moved him to safety in the preseason, so an upgrade would definitely come as a relief.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports confirmed that the Patriots may plan on accepting Janoris Jenkins of the New York Giants and Gareon Conley of the Oakland Raiders. The bad news is that the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers are also looking for a corner.

Jenkins had the highest upside of every available corner. He was an All-Pro in 2016, but remained to be a good starter since that period.

The Patriots would not have been interested in Jenkins, because Patrick Peterson was a far better option for their corner spot. Peterson retracted his trade demand, and this sure will boost Jenkins’ price. Well, we know that New England knows how to make a big investment whenever the situation demands such move. Let’s see how will things work for Jenkins and the other potential candidates.

The team is getting ready for the next game, and they are definitely fit for the Week 8 challenge. Are the Buffalo Bills ready for Tom Brady and the rest of the guys?
