Report: Patriots Make Decision On Eric Rowe

The New England Patriots put Eric Rowe on injured reserve due to his injury.

ESPN’s Field Yates confirmed that Eric Rowe was put on injured reserve due to the groin injury that bugged him entire season. He was limited in practice since the summer, and also missed some of the game time. The groin injury kept Rowe out of the field in Week 3, Week 4 and Week 5. He was out of Monday’s great win over the Buffalo Bills.

But, Rowe was not really productive in the games he was able to suit up for. He made about 34.10 percent of the defensive snaps without the first game where he was in great shape and played 100-percent of the snaps on defense.

Rowe’s appearance in the Week 7 contest against Chicago was probably the last time we saw the corner wearing a Patriots uniform. Rowe will become an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Patriots will also bring another player off of injured reserve, but it is probably Rex Burkhead who is expected to return yo practice any time now.

The corner joined the New England Patriots in September 2016. The Patriots signed a trade deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to bring Rowe to Foxboro. During his era with the Pats, Rowe played in 21 regular seaosn games and totaled 50 tackles, defended eleven passes and tallied one interception. He was also playing with the team in the Super Bowl LI game.

If Rowe goes away, Jason McCourty is definitely becoming the No. Cornerback opposite of Stephon Gilmore. We have seen him in this part of the squad in the last few weeks. In the Week 8 contest, McCourty totaled five tackles and defended a pass. He played in 98-percent of the defensive snaps.

Rookie Duke Dawson is planned to take Rowe’s position on the active roster.
