Report: Rob Gronkowski Did Not Make Trip To Chicago

Patriots fans are worried that their favorite team will play without tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Gronk was limited in practice, and the team confirmed his back injury. Rob Gronkowski had three injuries so far, and this back injury sure gives us a reason to worry. Jim McBride of The Boston Globe said that the tight end did not make the trip with his teammates to Chicago on Saturday. McBride still hopes that Gronk will appear on Sunday as he said that the brilliant tight end has not ruled out.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter came out with a report saying that Gronk is “highly unlikely” to play in the Week 7 contest.
Gronk was dealing with an ankle injury in the last month, and his back injury is actually putting his status in doubt. The tight end was limited on Wednesday and Thursday due to his ankle injury. But, according to the final injury report, Gronk was questionable for the contest against the Bears.

The tight end has a terrible history of injuries when it comes to his back ailment. If Gronk does not play, the Patriots will have to rely on Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister. These come with a few limitations. Allen has to work on his passing game, and Hollister is also plagued with injuries.

Allen caught just one pass and Hollister played in three games and was able to catch three passes for 35 yards.

In Week 6, Gronk hauled in 26 catches for 405 yards and a touchdown. If he does not play on Sunday, he will face serious issues regarding his playing incentives. Gronkowski restructured his contract to have another $4.3 million in incentives.

One million of the restructure comes in per-game roster bonuses, and he is also able to make $1.1 million if he catches 70+ passes, $1.1 million for being active in 80-percent of the offensive snaps in the season, $1.1 million for 9+ touchdowns and/or $1.1 million for 1,085 receiving yards.
