Rob Gronkowski Grades Josh Gordon’s Gronk Spike

Josh Gordon joined the New England Patriots at the start of the regular season, and his new teammates are impressed by his spike.

Gordon was acquired via a trade deal with the Cleveland Browns, and he has already helped the tim win a game. The Patriots’ Week 5 win over the Indianapolis Colts was brilliant, and Gordon hauled in two of his four targets for 50 yards and a 34-yard touchdown pass. The play was about to break down for the team, but Gordon the wide out broke off to the corner of the end zone, and quarterback Tom Brady hit him with a pass. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is amazed with his game, and yes, that spike.

“I think after seeing the rush, him get out of the pocket, just kind of goes to sandlot football scramble drill – you know, go the opposite direction of what you were going. And I kind of wanted to head towards the end zone and we made eye contact, he threw it up there and it was a perfect ball. So, I had to try to make a play on it, and that was pretty much it,” Gordon said after the Thursday’s game.

Gordon decided to celebrate in the typical Gronk style, and spiked the ball toward the Gillette Stadium turf. “It was unbelievable; he did a great job,” Gronkowski said.

This was Brady’s 500th career touchdown, and he was thrilled to see the new teammate make the play.
“That was a great play Josh made, you know, jumping over the top of two defenders. That tells you the kind of confidence I have in a really short period of time. You know, he’s earned it and happy to see him make that play,” the quarterback said.

Gordon is an excellent player, and he’s got some sharp skills in his pocket.
