Timetable For Sony Michel’s Knee Injury Revealed

Sony Michel suffered a terrible knee injury during the Week 7 contest against the Chicago Bears.

The first round running back was helped to the sideline and checked by trainers. Sony Michel was then carted to the locker room, and fans were already concerned about the possibility that he misses the entire season. Michel had an MRI on Monday, and it showed that there is no structural damage in his knee. According to reports, Michel was expected to return to the field as he is considered week-to-week.

However, Michel was not present for Wednesday’s practice as his team is getting ready to take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Jim McBride of The Boston Globe provided a specific view of the timetable Sony Michel is looking at.

According to McBride, Michel may miss a week or two, as confirmed by a league source. In other words, the player will not join his teammates for the Week 8 contest against the Bills. He may not be on the field next Sunday as the team challenged the Green bay Packers in Week 9. Michel is expected to return for the Patriots’ Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Michel suffered his knee injury after the 1st & 10 handoff from quarterback Tom Brady at the beginning of the second quarter. He was rolled up on by Chicago Bears defensive end Bilal Nichols and remained on the ground after fumbling the ball in agony. Patriots ruled him out for the rest of the game.

Earlier this summer, Michel had a knee injury and had fluid drained from his knee. He was out of the preseason and Week 1. The back totaled 422 yards and four scores with four catches for 31 yards.

“Sony has really been coming into his own providing some really explosive runs for us. To see him go out and get twisted up like he did [Sunday] in the second quarter, I think everyone was holding their breath. Just happy it is not as serious as it could have been. Hopefully we get him back at some point soon,” Brady said of Michel.
