Tom Brady Doubles-Down Comments On Relationship With Josh Gordon

Tom Brady and Josh Gordon developed chemistry at the very same moment they hit the field together.

Josh Gordon made sure his presence was felt in his second game with the team. He released his full potential by catching the 34-yard touchdown pass by the quarterback on a broken down play in the fourth quarter of the team’s game. Gordon broke loose off of his defender, and managed to leap over two Colts, hauling in the football. This gave the Patriots enough breathing space.

Yeah, I saw him kind of break free. I saw the guy underneath him and he took a good angle at the pylon and when I threw it I thought that he could get his eyes on the ball before the defender could just based on the position and that’s what ended up happening. Josh went up and went through both those guys to make the play. Again, I think I said after the game, it just speaks to the trust I have in him in a very short period of time to make those plays,” Brady said during his appearance on WEEI’s Kirk and Callahan on Monday.

“I mean, I’ve watched him play for a long time, we played against him and just seeing him on the practice field you make those type of throws when you believe that your guy is going to come down with it. It was a huge play in the game and we needed it at the time. We kind of sputtered there in the third quarter there with the turnovers and we needed a big play and it was great to see Josh come up with that,” the quarterback added.

The touchdown pass was Brady’s 500th touchdown pass, and Gordon was the 71st receiver to bring a touchdown passed by the quarterback star.

“I’m sure I remember all of them. To recount them would be tough, but I remember all the guys that I played with and threw touchdown passes to. We’ve had a lot of guys contribute over the years and I think these things are all just great team awards. I know a lot gets focused on the quarterback, but you’re one of many and when you’re the quarterback you’re the one that gets the ball and it’s great in my view to distribute to all these different playmakers that are just incredible athletes all the way to Mike Vrabel who caught, I don’t know, a bunch of touchdown passes from me, all the receivers I’ve played with, Gronk, who has caught the most, Terry Glenn, who caught the first and Josh for catching the last one and everyone in-between,” Brady said of his receivers.
