Phillip Dorsett Finally Broke His Silence On Trade Rumors

We all heard the Phillip Dorsett trade rumors. Many were convinced that he is about to leave Foxboro, and the whole thing was fueled by the rumors of New England’s interested in another primetime wide receiver.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network stirred the pots, too. He reported that the Patriots are looking for a receiver, and may also release one that is currently on the active roster. Chris Hogan and Phillip Dorsett are the first to go. The Houston Texans called on Dorsett, but the talks did not provide any deal.

Dorsett spoke to Henry McKenna of PatriotsWire, and said how he was aware of the trade rumors that sort of made him nervous.

“I heard about it. I try to stay off social media but obviously everything comes to you, but I didn’t have a reaction. I’ve been traded before, so it was kind of nerve-wracking. I did get a little startled. I’m not going to lie. I’m just glad I’m here. Thankful that I’m still here,” Dorsett said.

“I love it here. For me to get traded again, it would’ve been tough. I would’ve been a little shook, but like I said, I’m here. I’m just thankful I’m still here. I’m giving this team everything I’ve got every day on the practice field, and whatever they ask me to do, I do,” he added.

Dorsett had the biggest drop in production after Edelman’s return to the field and Gordon’s arrival in Foxboro. He caught 19 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the first five games. Since then, he had just one catch for eight yards in Week 7.

The Patriots are at 6-2 at the moment, so there is no need to panic.

“It hasn’t been tough, because we’ve been winning. We’ve been winning. Nothing’s more fun than winning games, so it hasn’t been tough. Whatever they need, I’m here for them. I’m here for Josh. I’m helping him as much as I can’t. He sits right by me. He’s doing a great job.”
