Report: Patriots Fill Open Spot On 53-Man Roster

The New England Patriots made the last change to the 53-man active roster, and used a practice squat player to fill the open spot.

The team signed interior offensive lineman James Ferentz from the practice squad to add guard and center depth. Starting right guard Shaq Mason and offensive lineman Brian Schwenke were ruled out for Sunday night’s contest against the Green Bay Packer.

The 29-year-old player was active in 21 games with the Denver Broncos in 2015 and 2016. He was undrafted out of Iowa in 2013.

His father, Kirk, is Iowa’s head coach. Kirk was offensive line coach with Bill Belichick with the Cleveland Browns from 1993 to 1995. Ferentz’s brother, Brian, is the offensive coordinator in Iowa. Brian was part of the Patriots’ coaching staff for two years, from 2009 to 2011.

Ted Karras is expected to take Mason’s spot at right guard, as confirmed by reports. New England also has Cole Croston. The Iowa product will serve as interior offensive line depth.

This is a rather important game for the Patriots. They have been working really hard to come this far, and although facing the Green Bay Packers is a real challenge, the team is ready to roll on Sunday.

Tom Brady will confront his rival Aaron Rodgers. We all know that Brady is the GOAT, and even the Packers quarterback admitted it. Brady is irreplaceable as he has more wins and award. Rodgers is a beginner, and that says pretty much everything you need to know about these two.

The Patriots were plagued with injuries in the last few weeks, but everything is fine now, and even Sony Michel is expected to take the field on Sunday. So, yes, pretty much everybody is ready for the tough challenge, and we cannot wait to see the outcome of the battle.
