Watch: Cordarrelle Patterson Rushes For Five-Yard Touchdown

Cordarrelle Patterson used the opportunity he was given, and brought joy to Patriots fans with his 5-yard run.

The New England Patriots lined Cordarrelle Patterson up in the backfield for the second game in a row, and he impressed everyone so far. The wide receiver is now running back, and was able to rush for 51 yards on five carries. He ended up into the end zone on a 5-yard run that put his team up 17-10 with just two minutes left in the first half.

Patterson was a runner for New England in this contest, and has not had any catch so far. The veteran was lined up in the backfield for the last few weeks in order to help his teammates cope with the loss of Sony Michel.

Michel missed the last two matchups due to the knee injury he suffered in the Week 7 game against the Bears.
In Week 8, Patterson rushed for 38 yards on 10 carries and was praised from his teammates for managing to handle the duty. He was more than eager to accept the challenge, and even said he wanted to have 25 carries in Week 9.

“I’ve been playing every position my entire life. So when my number’s called, I’ll be ready. Josh (McDaniels) did a hell of a job putting me back there. He trusted me. I had 10 carries, so I’m thankful for that. Next week, I hope I get like 25 carries,” Patterson said after the game.

He has five carries and a production of over 10-yards per rush, and the Patriots will definitely hold Patterson on this position. Nobody really thought that they would make such a decision at the beginning of the regular season. However, many players manage to develop new skills, and Patterson is more than brilliant at the moment.
