LeBron James Says Love Is Stronger Than Hate After Thousand Oaks Mass Shooting

LeBron James took to Twitter to express his message of condolence after the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones last night in Thousand Oaks, CA!!!!” he tweeted.

According to CNN’s Lauren Said-Moorhouse, Rob Picheta, Veronica Rocha and Meg Wagner, a lone gunman killed 12 people. The gunman, former US Marine Ian David Long, 28, was also found dead at the spot.

The Los Angeles Lakers also released a statement on the mass shooting.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims, families and those affected by the terrible tragedy last night in Thousand Oaks, CA.”

LeBron is an advocate for gun control. In 2015, he talked about the problem after a series of deaths involving children in Cleveland.

“Obviously you’re not going to be able to take every gun out, I don’t know how you can do that. There’s so many around now, today. But if there’s some stipulations behind it or some penalties, some big time penalties or rules or regulations about carrying firearms, legal or illegal, people will second-guess themselves,” he said.

Shandel Richardson of the Sun Sentinel reported that LeBron called for changes to gun laws after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

“It’s a tragedy. We’ve seen these schools and these tragedies happen in America, and there’s been no change to gun control. I don’t have the answer to this. Let’s just sit here and have a round table right now because I don’t have the answers right now. But we have to do something about it,” LeBron said.
LeBron was devastated to learn that the problem is still present in his current town. Things have got to be changed as soon as possible.
