Report: Albert McClellan Announces His Goal After Joining Patiots

The Baltimore Ravens released Albert McClellan, and he did not need much time to join the New England Patriots. McClellan signed a deal with the Patriots last week, and had his debut on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Albert McClellan talked to reporters for the first time after signing with the Pats, and said he was amazed to join such a brilliant organization.

“It’s a blessing to be here. I’m just glad to have another opportunity to play this game that everyone loves. My heart is in it, I’m passionate about it and it’s a blessing to be here and a part of this great team,” McClellan said.

The Ravens released McClellan at the end of October as they needed an empty spot for running back Ty Montgomery. The team signed Montgomery at the NFL Trade Deadline. The Ravens had plans to re-sign him, but McClellan had something else on his mind.

McClellan came to Foxboro to help the Patriots on special teams. New England struggled a lot with this unit.
McClellan spent his professional career with the Baltimore Ravens. He played in 96 career regular season games and had 24 starts. He totaled 99 tackles, three sacks, four quarterback hits and 12 tackles for a loss. McClellan forced two fumbles and recovered four others.

Last Sunday, McClellan played in 67-percent of the special team snaps and recorded a tackle.

“(I’m looking to) just establish a role. I’ve been a big special teams guy throughout my career, so continue to help out there where it’s needed. Other than that, whatever’s asked from the coaches and whatever they think I can do, just do it to the best of my ability,” McClellan said.

“We played him in Baltimore a ton of times, and I was never too excited about having to go head-to-head with him. But he’s a really savvy player. He really has a great understanding of the game. When you hear him talk about the kicking game, you understand this guy knows what he’s doing. He’s been coached well. He watches a lot of film. He picks up a lot of little indicators. So I think he can really fit in here,” special teams captain Matthew Slater said of McClellan.
