Danny Etling Broke His Silence On Rookie Year, Traveling With Patriots

Tom Brady is the ultimate quarterback in New England, and most fans usually forget that there is a young quarterback on the Patriots roster. Brady may be 41, but he is playing his best football. He is not even thinking of slowing down in near future. Many said that the quarterback will retire after the season, but that’s just a speculation. However, Brady will have to go at some point. That would be the perfect opportunity for Danny Etling, despite the fact that he has not thrown a pass this season. Well, we cannot even say that he was not involved in what the Patriots have achieved this season.

A recent interview shows an interesting side of the Patriots story. Danny Etling may be on the practice squad, but he accompanies his teammates everywhere they go, and is even involved in their offensive operations. In this interview, Etling talks about his experience with the team.

“I’ve learned a lot, just so far, I’ve been given different tasks and different jobs to do. For the most part I’ve just been able to sit there and learn exactly what game day will be like, and the attitude on the sideline, adjusting to different things in the NFL. I get to watch two pretty great quarterbacks in front of me prepare for the game, how they react to things on the sideline, how they adjust, it’s been a blessing and I’m so thankful for it,” Etling said.

The fact that Etling accompanies the team shows that he enjoys a specific privilege in his rookie season. Jacoby Brissett had the same benefits, but he was placed on injured reserve, and was not on the practice squad. So, when New England brings a third quarterback on trips and even gives him tasks, it means that the player is worth developing.

Etling will have to prove that he can be a long-term starter. That’s the only way to be given a chance.
