NBA Media Reacts To Best Lakers Defensive Performance Of The Year

The Los Angeles Lakers have their offense ranked at No. 9 in the NBA, and have a great power to wear teams down. It works so far, and the Lakers better work on their defensive performance. It is going in a good direction, but experts cannot forget the fact that the Lakers held just a couple of opponents to below 100 points.

The good news is that this changed last night as the Lakers pulled out their best defensive performance of the season. The Utah Jazz could not even make a move, and stayed at 83 points. This was their lowest total of the season, but they won a game in which they were able to turn the ball over 23 times. They had just seven three-pointers.

We all know that Los Angeles can play offense. LeBron James is on the team, meaning that the team is near the top of the NBA. The biggest question this year was related to the team’s defense. They still have a lot to work on, but tonight’s game against the Jazz helped a bit. The NBA media had a words of praise for the Lakers.

2017 was a good year for NBA teams in terms of obtaining talented guards. Lonzo Ball and Donovan Mitchell are the best in the group. Mitchell had a better rookie season than Ball, and Lonzo is now fighting to reclaim his status in the draft class. The game against the Jazz is a chance for him to make a move forward.

The original scenario in which Brandon Ingram stands in the corner and makes three-pointers brought by LeBron James did not work. Attacking the basket is a much better alternative, and that’s exactly what Ingram did on Friday.

“Lonzo Ball picking up where he left off in Cleveland. Knocked down his first 3 and going right at the rim,” Bill Oram tweeted.

This was Ball’s most aggressive game against the Cavaliers. Friday’s game was a nice chance to develop that aggressiveness.
