Julian Edelman Makes Bold Statement On Rookie CB Duke Dawson ‘Doesn’t Back Down…’

The New England Patriots are the only team to unveil the mystery surrounding cornerback Duke Dawson.

Dawson was injured this summer, and was placed on injured reserve for most of the season. The Patriots brought him to the active roster, but reporters and fans could not really see him on the field. However, the Patriots know pretty much everything about the 2018 second-round pick.

“Competitive. Works hard. Feisty guy that comes in and works hard. Doesn’t back down. He’s great to compete against,” receiver Julian Edelman said in front of his locker.

Dawson played for the Florida Gators. He is set to play the slot role for the Patriots as he was lined right there before his injury in training camp.

“He’s very competitive. He goes out there every day whether on defense or the look defense against the offense, making plays. I think he’s doing a good job of going out there and competing against our best guys, whether it be Jules Hoges , Phil , whoever’s in there – JG – of just trying to compete and make plays,” safety Devin McCourty said during his Wednesday’s press conference.

“I think as a young guy, nothing gets you better. I remember being over there and going against our offense and whether it was Randy , Wes , as a rookie of going against those guys just getting you better as a player. He’s done a good job of taking advantage of that.”

Eric Rowe was placed on injured reserve, and the New England Patriots have a nice group of cornerbacks made from Stephon Gilmore at No. 1, Jason McCourty at No. 2 and Jon Jones in the slot.

Dawson can sure fit in this rotation, especially if one these cornerbacks struggle on the field. So, yes, the Patriots are fully armed now.
