Patriots Finally Reveal The Reason For Gronkowski Not Playing vs Titans

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to come back to action for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

The tight end missed three of the last four games of the team due to ankle and back issues. Gronkowski missed New England’s win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 9 and the awful loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 10.

However, it seems like missing the game against the Titans was not a team’s decision. NFL Media’s Mike Giardi explained that Gronkowski had the final word when it comes to playing against the Titans. The star tight end decided to sit out the game and recover.

“My understanding was that Tennessee Titans game, that was really up to Rob whether he played or not. And I think that with some advice from friends and family, you know, let’s take another week, you get the bye then hopefully you come back and you are yourself,” Giardi said.

Gronk scored a touchdown and eclipsed the 100-yard mark in the Week 1 game against the Houston Texans. That was probably the only great game he played in as his production got really slow. Gronkowski was not really himself due to the ankle injury he suffered in Week 4. He also deals with a sore back that stopped him from contributing in Week 7.

If you ask Gronk, he will definitely say that he is not proud of his lack of production in the season. Resting for an extra week was probably a good long-term decision.

The Patriots offense was not the brightest spot this season. The team needs a healthy tight end, and Gronk was right to sit out the game. They will have to take an extra care of him if they want to win the big games. Keep up the good job, Gronk!
