Patriots Land Young Quarterback In Latest CBS Mock Draft

The New England Patriots are just fine with their quarterback star Tom Brady. But, the TB12 will have to go at some point, and the team is probably taking that into consideration. Brady helped the Patriots win Super Bowls, and they are not ready to give up on him. However, Brady said that he is not going anywhere before the team finds a decent replacement for him.

Brady is 41, and promised to play until he is 45. He is playing his final seasons in the NFL, and New England has enough time to develop another quarterback into a star. Well, we do not really know if they will manage to find someone as good as Brady.

But, they are trying. CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson has a suggestion for the Patriots, and his focus is on current Duke quarterback Daniel Jones.

“The Patriots have drafted a half-dozen quarterbacks since 2008 but Jones could be the one to finally succeed Tom Brady. Then again, Brady, 41 says he wants to play another 3-4 years. Either way, Jones is an interesting prospect who looks the part, can make all the throws, is surprisingly mobile and plays for QB guru, David Cutcliffe,” Wilson explained.

Finding a replacement for Brady is a priority now, and the Patriots can reach for a few interesting options. The team owns their first rounder in 2019 and the second, and the Bears’ second round pick after last year’s trade. The Patriots have Detroit’s third round pick and may attract a few more. They are still flexible to get another quarterback if they find something interesting that fits their requirements.

Jones led the Blue Devils to a 7-4 record in the season. He was great in passing for 2,106 yards on 60.3 completion percentage along with his 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.
